Welcome to our farm.

Here at Abbott Farms we believe in the old saying that if you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, but if you teach him to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.  We want to help others learn to feed themselves rather than just sell them our produce, although we do that, too!

What we are doing and teaching here...

We are experimenting in several areas, attempting to develop a sustainable system which anyone with a little bit of property can put into practice.  These areas include:  Beekeeping, home dairy, poultry, vegetable crops and mushroom culture.  We also teach classes and give presentations on beekeeping, cheese making, beeswax products, soap making, small animal husbandry and sustainable farming.  We have a CSA and dairy goat herd share program during the growing season and offer beekeeping field days throughout the beekeeping year. For updates on our activities, sign up for the email list.

Books

I have written two books:

The (Im)possible Beekeeper - written in 2016, which outlines my philosophy and management of bees.

Farming by Natureculture - written in 2024, which continues in the same tradition of explaining my philosophy and management of gardening/farming and touching on chickens and goats.
